Following are the top picks for the shows and movies that you should be streaming this Halloween.
Horror has found its place on streaming services with the rise of Stranger Things, American Horror
Story, and The Walking Dead. But Netflix has several more spooky favorites that deserve recognition.

1. THE ADDAMS FAMILY
Join Morticia, Gomez, Wednesday, Uncle Fester, Cousin It, and all of your other favorite characters
from the most ghoulishly unconventional family on screen.
2. EXTRAORDINARY TALES
Guillermo del Toro (director of Hellboy) and some of the most famous voices of horror films—including
that of the late Bela Lugosi (Count Dracula, 1931)—narrate episodes of Netflix’s animated series
Extraordinary Tales. Each episode is based on famous stories from author Edgar Allan Poe’s darkest works.
3. SLEEPY HOLLOW
Johnny Depp, Christina Ricci, and Miranda Richardson star in this 1999 version of the headless
whodunit Sleepy Hollow. Detective Ichabod Crane (Depp) travels to the eerie town on an investigation
of a series of mysterious deaths.
4. BATES MOTEL
Ever wonder how Norman Bates became the cold-blooded killer we know from
Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 film Psycho? Bates Motel gives the backstory we never knew we
needed by showing the young life of Bates and his mother.
5. SCREAM 2
Characters Sydney (Neve Campbell) and Gale (Courteney Cox) survived the first film after a
psycho-killer horrifies the small town of Woodsboro, and we’re still screaming. This second installment
in the trilogy keeps the mystery running in all its ‘90s horror-flick glory.
6. PRACTICAL MAGIC
Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman star as the Owens sisters, who struggle to navigate uncovering
true love with their own familial gift of practical magic. It’s a dry comedy laced with romance and
elements of unnerving happenings that make it the perfect mix of sweet and scary for
a Halloween movie-lover less interested in horror.
7. CHILDREN OF THE CORN
Stephen King’s classic horror film Children of the Corn is also available to stream on Netflix.
The flick focuses on a young couple that wonders into a Midwestern town populated only by children.
They later find that the kids have killed every adult in sight at the direction of their leader,
Isaac Chroner (John Franklin), and are now aiming to sacrifice the duo to their deity of sorts.
