I came. I saw. I was unimpressed.
Written by Alan Moore in the mid 80’s. At the time might have seemed like a very divisive and shocking story, and trust me, it still is. Thanks to the new generation of movie watchers who find offense at everything.
When I read it, ten years ago the story really came off as ‘Shock Value for the sake of shock value.’ Not only is that theme prevalent in this adaptation, but Sam Liu, the director, was clearly rushing this film to a deadline, it’s clear to me for a bunch of reasons, but one of it is Mark Hammill’s great but again, clearly rushed voice performance.
Like the comic book? Yes? Well I’m one of those people who’s not MADLY in love with this one-shot Batman story –
The Killing Joke.
