- The Girl on the Train could be adding two A-listers for its male leads. Chris Evans and Oscar winner Jared Leto are in talks to join the adaptation of the acclaimed best-seller. Evans would play Tom, the ex-husband of the lead character, Rachel (Emily Blunt), and Leto would take up the husband of a neighbor (Haley Bennett). The cast could be even more loaded, with Blunt, Bennett, and Rebecca Ferguson already signed on. Paula Hawkins’ thrilling novel tracks Rachel, a lonely and spectacularly unreliable narrator who becomes a little too involved with the lives of the couple she spies on during her daily train ride. - Not even a week after lining up an action-comedy, Liam Neeson has a thriller booked. The face of the Taken series takes center stage in The Commuter, from scribes Byron Willinger and Phil de Blasi. Neeson aligns with familiar faces behind the camera: producers Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman and StudioCanal all worked on Non-Stop and Unknown. Neeson plays the titular man, a businessman who’s swept into a criminal conspiracy. Shooting begins in New York this spring. [Deadline]
- A couple of young Hollywood stars are fronting an indie project. Asa Butterfield and Maisie Williams have been added to Arrivals, helmed by Peter Hutchings. Butterfield, the Ender’s Game star, will play a hypochondriac baggage handler in South Africa after dropping out of college. He then tasks himself with helping a terminally ill teenager (Williams) in checking off her bucket list. Production on Fergal Rock’s screenplay is aiming for a winter start in Cape Town. - Kingsman actress Sophie Cookson will star in a new supernatural thriller from The Conjuring team. Written by Chad and Carey Hayes and helmed by Hitman director Xavier Gens, The Crucifixion details a journalist’s efforts to determine whether the death of a nun during an exorcism by a priest was murder or succumbing to demons.
