
- Kate Hudson is joining the upcoming Kung Fu Panda 3, stepping in Rebel Wilson, who departed the project due to scheduling issues. Hudson will voice Mei Mei, the first female panda lead of the series. In a cast bolstered by a strong returning cast (Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman), Hudson is the latest add to the impressive list of newcomers, including J.K. Simmons and Bryan Cranston. - Michael Fassbender, gumshoe? The Steve Jobs star is in talks to lead an adaptation of Norwegian crime novel The Snowman. The original 2007 book from Jo Nesbo follows detective Harry Hole as he investigates the disappearance of a mother, with little evidence to aid the case. - Edgar Wright might be landing Jamie Foxx for his next film. The Oscar-winning actor is negotiations to star in Baby Driver, along with Lily James and Ansel Elgort. The musical-infused film centers on a criminal who convinces a young driver (Elgort) to drive for him. [Deadline]
- Octavia Spencer and McKenna Grace flank Chris Evans in Marc Webb’s new feature. Gifted follows Frank (Evans) has he raises his precocious niece, Mary (Grace), who is labeled as “gifted” in school. Spencer will play Frank’s landlord and friend, Roberta. [Deadline]
