M. Night Shyamalan’s forthcoming film, an untitled supernatural thriller being produced by Jason Blum, has added four actresses to its cast. Anya Taylor, Betty Buckley, Jessica Sula, and Haley Lu Richardson are joining James McAvoy, whose casting was announced earlier this month. The film begins shooting in Philadelphia next month. Diane Guerrero (Orange is the New Black, Jane the Virgin) is the latest actress to join The Godmother. Directed by Gerard Johnson, the movie also stars Catherine Zeta-Jones, Oliver Martinez, and John Leguizamo and details the life of Medellin drug lord Griselda Blanco, the so-called “Godmother of Cocaine.” Shooting begins Nov. 4 in Puerto Rico.
Kong: Skull Island has lured another cast member. Eugene Cordero is joining the roster, which also includes Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, John C. Reilly, and Straight Outta Compton duo Corey Hawkins and Jason Mitchell. Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who directed Cordero in The Kings of Summer, is helming the movie, which is expected to set up a potential King Kong-Godzilla crossover. [Deadline]
A day after Steve Zahn signed on, Amiah Miller has been cast in War For the Planet of the Apes. The young actress joins Zahn, Woody Harrelson, and Gabriel Chavarria in the sequel, helmed by returning Dawn of the Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves. [Deadline]
