- Patricia Arquette will voice a witch in Troll: The Rise of Harry Potter Jr., with Baxter Bartlett as the title character. John Carl Buechler wrote and directed the original 1986 film Troll, and will co-produce the forthcoming 3D animated feature film. Like the original, the update will follow a troll wizard who plans to take over the world, and only Harry Potter Jr. and a magical witch can stop him. The film is scheduled to release in early 2017, and a television series is also in the works.
- Danielle Radcliffe is set to star in Imperium, a crime drama based on the work of real-life FBI agent Michael German. The film tells the story of a FBI agent (Radcliffe) who goes undercover to foil the plan of a group of white supremacists to make a dirty bomb. Daniel Ragussis is directing the film, marking his feature directorial debut. He also co-wrote the script with German. [Deadline]
- Dutch actor Marwan Kenzari will appear in Terry George’s The Promise, a period drama starring Christian Bale and Oscar Isaac that’s set at the end of the Ottoman Empire. George and Robin Swicord wrote the script for the film, which has a love triangle at its core. “Kenzari has a strong supporting role opposite Bale and Isaac as the son [of] a diplomat in Turkey, helping them both avoid war when the Turkey-Armenian conflict erupts,” according to THR.
- Kenzari will also appear in Tommy Wirkola’s sci-fi flick What Happened to Monday, which centers on seven sisters living in a world with a one-child policy. The sisters alternate assuming the identity of a single person to keep themselves concealed from society. Noomi Rapace and Glenn Close are starring, with Kenzari as a bureau agent caught in the middle of his work and his feelings for Rapace’s character. [THR]
