
- Funnyman Zach Galifianakis is reportedly in talks to provide the voice of Batman’s adversary the Joker in the upcoming Lego Batman movie. Galifianakis would be joining Will Arnett, who returns as the voice of Batman, and Michael Cera, who will join the franchise as the voice of Robin. Chris McKay, The Lego Movie’s animation supervisor, is stepping up to direct the spinoff, and Seth Grahame-Smith wrote the script. Lego Movie directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will stay on to produce. Lego Batman is set to hit theaters in February of 2017. [THR]
- Katherine Heigl and Rosario Dawson are set to star in Unforgettable. Long-time producer Denise Di Novi will make her directing debut with the film, and is producing with Alison Greenspan. The thriller tells the story of a woman (Dawson) who is terrorized by her husband’s his ex-wife (Heigl), making it extremely difficult to start her life with her new spouse and his daughter. Christina Hodson and David Leslie Johnson wrote the script for the film, which starts shooting on August 17 in Los Angeles. [THR]
- Naomi Watts is in final talks for Book of Henry. Colin Trevorrow is directing from an original script by author Gregg Hurwitz. Details about the story have not been revealed. The film will start shooting in New York in September. [Deadline]
- Maria Bello will play Kathy Eldon, her friend for 5 years and the mother of late photojournalist Dan Eldon, in The Journey is the Destination. The film is based on the book The Journey is the Destination: The Journals of Dan Eldon, and will tell the story of his life, which was tragically cut short when he was beaten to death at age 22 in Somalia. Bronwen Hughes is directing the film with Ben Schnetzer in the lead role of Dan, and co-wrote the script with Jan Sardi. Ella Purnell and Sam Hazeldin also star. Martin Katz, Kweku Mandela, Richard Arlook, and Kathy Eldon are producing, and Bello is executive producing. [THR]
