Veteran poster artist Drew Struzan has some high praise for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and though he may be a bit biased — having designed art for the franchise’s previous installments — he does have a unique perspective.
In a recent interview with Australia’s Movie Weekly, Struzan said, “I got to read the script and subsequently I’ve seen half of [The Force Awakens], and I can tell you and the fans this, honest to god, it is far and away probably going to be the best Star Wars you’ve ever seen.”
He also recounted how he came aboard The Force Awakens to create a new poster at the behest of director J.J. Abrams, who sounded “like a fanboy” on the phone. The poster was unveiled at D23 over the weekend.
Struzan isn’t the only Star Wars stalwart involved in The Force Awakens: Among those returning to duty are stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher; composer John Williams; and screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan.
