Apparently all is easily forgotten in the world of Ghostbusters. Sources confirm that Ernie Hudson, one of the four original Ghostbusters, will appear in the new version of the film starring an all-female Ghostbusting team including Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones.
The Hollywood Reporter first reported the news.
It’s not clear if Hudson will reprise his original role as of Winston Zeddemore in this new version being directed by Paul Feig (Spy) but considering Bill Murray will be appearing in the new film as a different character than his original role as Dr. Peter Venkman, it’s safe to assume Hudson’s role will change too.

Sony declined to comment on the news.
Hudson wasn’t always a fan of the Ghostbusters reboot. Last October, he told Britain’s Telegraph, “If it has nothing to do with the other two movies, and it’s all female, then why are you calling it Ghostbusters? I love females. I hope that if they go that way at least they’ll be funny, and if they’re not funny at least hopefully it’ll be sexy. I love the idea of including women, I think that’s great. But all-female I think would be a bad idea. I don’t think the fans want to see that.”
But Hudson soon reversed course, telling The Hollywood Reporter in January, “Four fiercely funny, foxy, females busting ghosts… phenomenal!”
Production on the film concluded Saturday in New York. Ghostbusters will bow on July 15, 2016.
