Fast & Furious ride coming to Universal Studios Florida

Furious 7 shattered box office records this summer and currently ranks as the fifth highest grossing movie of all time, but the Fast & Furious franchise isn’t going to stop there.

In addition to the forthcoming eighth installment in the series, Universal announced on Tuesday that the Fast & Furious: Supercharged ride at Universal Studios Hollywood will be coming to Universal Studios Florida in 2017 — perfect timing, considering Furious 8 is scheduled for release in April of the same year.

The ride will be a stand-alone attraction in the Florida location; its California incarnation, which opened this summer, is part of the Universal Studios Hollywood tram tour. The official Universal Orlando Resort blog describes it as an immersive experience that will make ticket holders “feel like part of the ‘Fast family’ as you embark on a thrilling new Fast & Furious adventure that will put you right in the middle of the action.”

The ride will have its own original storyline that incorporates the cars from the films, and “you’ll be immersed in the underground racing world made famous in the films and explore the headquarters of Toretto and his team. Then, you’ll board specially-designed vehicles for an adrenaline-pumping ride with your favorite stars from the films.”
