Kanye West and Lindsay Lohan have both expressed interest in running for president in 2020, but don’t expect George Clooney to join them.
At a press conference for Our Brand is Crisis, Clooney (who produced the film) said he has no interest in venturing into politics.
“I’ve been asked that for almost 20 years now and the answer is just no,” Clooney said, according to People. “Who would ever want to live like that? I’m friends with a lot of those guys and I just think it’s hell.”
“I commend people who go into public service because it’s such a horrible way to get elected, it’s such a horrible time while you’re in office,” he added. “It’s more polarized now probably, arguably, since the Civil War in many ways and I think people will argue over things they believed in six or eight years ago because it’s not their guy saying it.”
Our Brand is Crisis stars Sandra Bullock in the leading role (which was originally written for Clooney) as a political strategist called on to help sway a presidential race in South America. The film arrives in theaters Oct. 30, and you can see its trailer below.
