Kate Winslet will portray the glamorous and fascinating Elizabeth ‘Lee’ Miller in a yet-to-be titled film produced by Troy Lum and Andrew Mason of Hopscotch Features.
Miller, who was a fashion model in New York City in the 1920s before going behind the camera, led an extraordinary life that included time spent as a muse and collaborator to artists such as Picasso and Man Ray in addition to becoming an acclaimed photojournalist for Vogue during World War II, capturing images of the London Blitz, the liberation of Paris and of concentration camps in Germany.
The movie will chronicle Miller’s life with source material provided by her son, Antony Penrose, who wrote the biography The Lives of Lee Miller. Variety first reported on the project.
The Academy Award winning actress is currently winning accolades for her role as Joanna Hoffman, a member of Steve Job’s (very small) inner circle in Steve Jobs, which opened in New York and Los Angeles this past weekend.
