Kevin Smith heads east for his Mallrats sequel. The writer-director announced on social media Thursday that the follow-up to his 1995 cult classic would shoot in Exton, Penn. at the Exton Square Mall.

It’s about 35 miles outside of Philadelphia. The original film shot at the Eden Prairie Center in Eden Prairie, Minn. — fewer than 20 miles out from Minneapolis. The film, which was entitled MallBrats in May, was slated to film in Delaware, but the developer of the Granite Run Mall said it would be unlikely due to “a snag with the movie people.”
The marquee names from the original film — Jason Lee, Shannen Doherty, Jeremy London, Jason Mewes, Stan Lee — are all on board to reprise the roles. It’s unclear if Ben Affleck or his Volkswagen will return.
According to Smith, production begins in January.
