Nicholas Hoult is a homicidal A&R man in Kill Your Friends trailer

Nicholas Hoult adds another vice to the trinity of sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll in the new trailer for Kill Your Friends — murder.

Adapted by John Niven from his own cult novel and directed by Owen Harris in his feature debut, Kill Your Friends stars Hoult as Steven Stelfox, a cynical A&R man who will do just about anything to get ahead in the Britpop scene of the mid-’90s. Fueled by greed, ego and copious pharmaceuticals, he cuts a bloody swath through the music biz much in the same way Christian Bale’s Patrick Bateman terrorized yuppie New York in American Psycho.

One thing that’s abundantly clear from the NSFW teaser, which you can watch below, is that Hoult is a long way from his cherub-faced breakout in About a Boy. Well Go USA will release Kill Your Friends next year in the U.S.
