Patrick Dempsey pays tribute to Can’t Buy Me Love co-star Amanda Peterson

Patrick Dempsey has offered up a touching remembrance to Amanda Peterson, his Can’t Buy Me Love co-star who was found dead in her Colorado home on Sunday.

“In my memory, she will always be vibrant and young. Gone too soon. Sending my thoughts and prayers to Amanda’s family,” Dempsey wrote on Twitter.

Peterson played Dempsey’s on-screen love interest in the 1987 teen comedy. She was 43 years old at the time of her death. “She was in bed, and she’d had a wonderful day, and we were planning on a dinner the next day,” Peterson’s mother, Sylvia, told PEOPLE this week. “So it was just a very, very big surprise.”

A cause of death has not yet been determined.
