The Blob is back. Goldcrest Films announced they will be producing a remake of the 1958 original along with Simon West (The Expendables 2) set to direct.

The 1958 film, starring Steve McQueen, was set in Pennsylvania and followed the destruction of a small-town by a continuously growing alien life-form that consumed everything in its path.

“With modern CGI we can now fully realize the potential of The Blob. The world I create will be totally believable, immersive and emotionally satisfying. It’s a thrill to introduce an enduring icon to a wider audience and a whole new era of fans,” said West.

Taewon Entertainment & A-List Corporation will co-finance the film as their first major English-language project. Richard Saperstein and Brian Witten will produce with Goldcrest Films.
