The extended — and R-rated — version of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies briefly hits theaters in October. But it can be brought home shortly after.
Warner Bros. announced Tuesday that the 2D and 3D Blu-ray/Digital HD combo packs will be available to buy Nov. 17, a bit over a month after the new cut makes its theatrical turn.
The Battle of the Five Armies’ extended version will featured 20 extra minutes and over nine hours of special features. It’s also the first extended version between director Peter Jackson’s three Lord of the Rings and two Hobbit films to not have a PG-13 rating. The only rating difference between last year’s theatrical release and the new version is “some violence.”
